- Exfoliation is a key part of any healthy skin routine. As we age, our skin’s natural cellular turnover process slows down, meaning that dead skin cells are “stuck” on the surface longer, making skin look and feel dull and rough. Chemical exfoliators like glycolic acid help unstick these dead cells, to reveal fresh, new skin.
- Regular exfoliation can also help with product absorption. When dead skin buildup is removed, skin-care products like serums and moisturizers are better able to penetrate the skin’s surface, making them more effective.
Use daily, morning and evening. Apply cleanser to your fingertips, add water, and gently massage onto your face using a circular motion, making sure to avoid your eye area. Rinse thoroughly.
Avoid using an exfoliating cleanser on broken skin—it can cause irritation.
Don’t use multiple exfoliating products at the same time, especially if you have sensitive skin—they can damage the skin’s barrier and cause redness, dryness, and flaking.
Follow your exfoliating cleanser with a gentle moisturizer like Senté Ultralight Defense Moisturizer, to replace lost hydration and enhance skin’s natural lipid barrier.
